King Series 4-Door ROXOR | Utility Vehicle Ownership Costs

When you're buying a utility vehicle for work, it's easy to get caught up in the sticker price.

But we've always thought there's a better question to ask:

What will that machine cost you for every mile you actually get out of it?

A vehicle that costs less up front isn't necessarily the least expensive vehicle to own. And a machine with all the latest bells and whistles doesn't do you much good if you're replacing it sooner than you expected.

That's one of the reasons we've been drawn to the Mahindra ROXOR platform. It's also part of the thinking behind our King Series 4-door ROXOR.

Looking Beyond the Purchase Price

We put together a comparison of several popular utility vehicles to look at purchase price from a different angle.

Instead of comparing MSRP alone, we divided the purchase price by an estimated useful service life in miles.

Here's what that comparison looked like:

Utility vehicle purchase cost comparison with estimated useful life and cost per mile

Comparison based on comparable enclosed, HVAC-equipped utility vehicle configurations. Prices are reference figures, not current quotes. Useful-life mileage figures are estimates, not manufacturer-rated service lives or verified fleet averages. Purchase cost per mile is calculated using vehicle acquisition price divided by estimated useful mileage. It excludes fuel, maintenance, repairs, downtime, financing, resale value, and other ownership expenses. The ROXOR figure represents a standard vehicle, not the additional cost of a King Series conversion.

What caught our attention wasn't just the ROXOR's purchase price. It was how much the economics could change if the vehicle remained useful for significantly more miles.

Of course, no one can promise how long a particular machine will last. Maintenance, operating conditions, driver habits, and application all play a role.

But the exercise illustrates something we think deserves more attention: the number of productive years and miles you get from a machine matters just as much as what you pay for it.

Why the ROXOR Caught Our Attention

Spend enough time around equipment and you start appreciating machines that are straightforward to work on.

The Mahindra ROXOR has a lot of the characteristics we look for in a working vehicle: a turbo diesel engine, steel construction, a rugged drivetrain, and a design that puts utility ahead of unnecessary complexity.

We're not suggesting that a ROXOR never needs maintenance or that it's automatically the right machine for every job.

But for customers who prioritize durability, serviceability, and long-term use, it's a platform worth considering.

And that brings us to why we developed the King Series 4-door model.

A Good Work Vehicle Is Even Better When It Can Carry the Crew

The factory ROXOR is designed for two passengers.

For some customers, that's plenty. For others, two seats can be a real limitation.

Think about a mine operation that needs to move four employees to a work area. Or a ranch where multiple people are heading out to check livestock. Or a property owner who wants to bring family along without taking a second vehicle.

That's where our King Series 4-door ROXOR comes into the picture.

We extend the factory wheelbase from approximately 96 inches to 136 inches and incorporate a second row of seating with four full-size door openings.

The result is a true four-passenger ROXOR, built around the same diesel-powered platform.

It's not about making a ROXOR bigger just for the sake of making it bigger.

It's about getting more useful work out of one vehicle.

The Cost of Moving People Matters, Too

When businesses evaluate equipment, purchase price is only part of the equation.

They also need to think about how efficiently that equipment handles everyday work.

If an operation regularly needs to transport four employees, a two-passenger vehicle may require multiple trips or an additional machine.

A four-passenger vehicle creates an opportunity to move that same group together.

That can mean fewer transport cycles, less time spent coordinating vehicles, and more productive use of equipment and personnel.

The actual savings depend on the operation, of course. But when you look at how often those trips happen over the course of a year, the question becomes worth asking.

Could one four-passenger vehicle do a job that currently requires two?

Built for the Long Haul

At King Series, we don't want to build something that simply looks impressive sitting on a showroom floor.

We want to build vehicles people can put to work.

Our four-passenger ROXOR conversion is fabricated in Emery, South Dakota, with custom chassis and body components developed specifically for the extended platform.

The standard-height King Series roll-over protective structure has also successfully achieved ISO 3471 certification, an important consideration for customers evaluating equipment for demanding work environments.

For customers operating in changing weather conditions, we offer an enclosed four-passenger configuration with the Hard Cabs ROXOR4D system and HVAC.

Those features aren't just about appearance. They're about making the vehicle more useful for the people who depend on it.

What Does a King Series 4-Door ROXOR Cost to Own?

That's a fair question, and one we think buyers should ask.

Our earlier comparison demonstrates the potential acquisition-cost advantage of a standard ROXOR when evaluated over an assumed service life.

The King Series four-passenger conversion adds an upfront investment, so its purchase cost per mile will be different from the standard ROXOR figure shown above.

The real value of the four-door model needs to be evaluated in the context of how it's used.

For a family, that might mean having one vehicle that comfortably accommodates everyone.

For a ranch, it might mean bringing more people along while handling daily chores.

For a mining or industrial operation, it might mean moving an entire crew in one trip rather than making multiple runs.

And for a fleet manager, the important calculation may be the total cost of transporting employees over several years, not simply the purchase price of each machine.

That's the conversation we're interested in having.

Buy for the Work, Not Just the Price Tag

There's no single utility vehicle that's right for everyone.

Some buyers need speed. Others want recreational features. Some are looking for the lowest initial purchase price.

But if you're shopping for a vehicle that will be used regularly, especially in a commercial or industrial environment, we think long-term value deserves a place near the top of the list.

That's why we believe in the ROXOR platform, and why we've invested in developing our King Series four-passenger version.

Because at the end of the day, the best value isn't necessarily the machine with the lowest sticker price.

It's the machine that keeps earning its place in your operation.
